News - children spastic surgery international mission

The 5th International Mission for spastic children took place from July 28 to August 1st in Medellin, Colombia.

Seven international surgeons participated with Dr Leclercq, including 2 Italians, 1 German, 1 Chilian, 1 Argentinian, 1 Brazilian, and Dr Sabrina Gallego, the local organizer of the mission. Four young Colombian surgeons and one occupational therapist were also able to train with us during the mission.
The mission was supported by the “Fondacion Las Americas”, which provided the local resources: operating room facilities, anesthetists, nurses, and surgical equipments. The logistic was organized by Mrs Soccoro Velez from the Fondacion.

Our gratitude goes to each of them for their personal involvement. Thanks to this very effective organization, we were able to operate 15 spastic children, and to follow-up 19 children operated during previous missions. Funding is needed in order to help bring more children for treatment to Medellin, and to buy some specific surgical equipments.
